twobecomefour.com is a parenting and lifestyle blog written by Rebecca, a 30-something mother of terrifically troublesome twin toddlers, Tilly and Jasper.
Rebecca is the middle of three children, which, according to her doctor and therapist, apparently explains a lot!
Rebecca is a bit of a hypochondriac, has slight OCD tendencies, and suffers from social anxiety and panic attacks.
She likes…
Red tractors, French films and Japanese anime. She likes all things geeky, and can spend many an evening engrossed on her laptop or Blackberry… blogging, reading, tweeting, facebooking. She likes waking in the morning after an uninterrupted night’s sleep, or ‘drinking’ the remnants of packets of crisps only to be glared at by Keith. Rebecca likes talking about her twins to anyone and everyone who’ll listen.
She doesn’t like…
Sweating… something she unfortunately has quite a talent for, and not liking it makes the problem even worse. She doesn’t like tomatoes but eats them because she knows they are good for her. She doesn’t like moving house having done it 7 times in the last 5 years it’s beginning to get a bit tedious. She dreams of one day settling in that house with the white picket fence and wearing a pinny and rollers (in her hair, not the feet). She really doesn’t like that Keith has to pack for every eventuality and is now drawing the line at taking the camping stove to the beach ‘just in case we need to make a cup of tea’.
Rebecca is married to Keith, who now has to suffer her company for all eternity (mwahahaha!). Keith has spent his entire adult life on the quest to find a cure for cancer… also known as a post-doc research scientist. He has been likened to Professor Weeto.
Their paths would have undoubtedly crossed unknowingly at various points in their lives… both attending the same, short-lived festival in 1996, and spending most of their early social lives in the pubs and clubs of Leicester... but it wasn’t until the Christmas of 2005 that their friendship began.
Dismayed at the lack of suitable partners in their lives they turned to the well-known cure for loneliness that is often called t’internet. Signing up for a well-known dating agency, they soon began exchanging flirty emails before agreeing to meet one cold Sunday afternoon in January 2006.
Instantly hitting it off, they both wished that the date would never end… moving from coffee shop to coffee shop, to eatery, to cinema (just like heaven!), to pub quiz… the only reason to end the date was the fact that they both had to go to work the following day – a clever tactic for any blind date should you wish to end it early ;)
Keith proposed at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower 11 months later, and they married 2 years and 4 days after their first date. 20 months later they welcomed Tilly and Jasper into the world and became an ‘instant family’.
It’s been rollercoaster of a ride so far, but that’s what life’s about. Grab a cuppa… put your feet up… and join us on our journey :)
