When I went into the kitchen this morning to gather bits and pieces together to get crafting with Tilly and Jasper I was planning to use a couple of empty drinks bottles to make some rockets... but no, Keith had been super efficient and already taken them out to the bin!
All of the recycling had been taken apart from 4 egg boxes. Obviously he thinks that I am more likely to use the egg boxes for cratfing... so a quick change of plan, and a few minutes later I had got over my disappointment.
In the end we ended up making this cute, but rather sorrowful looking, robot. It's super simple and required no glue (yay for no mess!).
All you need is:
3 x 6-egg egg boxes
1 x 9-egg egg boxes
2 loo rolls (or 1 kitchen towel roll cut in half, as we did)
Foil (value foil for the win!)
Clear sticky tape (scotch tape shows up on the foil)
Wrap the small egg boxes and loo rolls in foil... you don't even need to use sticky tape for this bit... isn't foil great! Keith accused me of making it all by myself, but I can assure you (and him) that Tilly and Jasper loved this bit... after they had ripped the lids off all the egg boxes!
Assemble your robot as pictured, using lots of sticky tape and cut out eyes and arms from the 'bumpy bit' of the larger egg box... again stick on with sticky tape.
Bish, bash, bosh... you have your own Metal Mickey... or 'Mr. Daddy' as Tilly has christened him!

I love it! I can't wait to have a go at making these with my toddler! Thank you for the inspiration x
