Farewell My Fair Lady

Barbie as Eliza Doolittle

It's that time of the month again :( No... not that time of the month... the last week of the month. The week before pay day and you're desperately searching under cushions for any miracle pound coins... and cooking up weird and not always wonderful creations from what is left in the freezer and cupboards!

Parenthood has hit us hard when it comes to money. It is widely reported that having twins (or more) can quite easily cripple you financially... and it is certainly getting to us. More so now that I am not working. Month by month it is becoming increasingly difficult, to the point where you just ignore the weekly texts from the bank telling you you've passed your agreed overdraft limit.

So we've been gathering together no longer used/never used items and anything else that we think might sell and hitting ebay hard to see if we can make a bit of money that way. We had a bit of success before we moved back in March, but I've been on a bit of a downer since and have been totally unmotivated and lacking in energy to do any more.

But we're getting desperate again, so we're currently on round two of operation ebay your life away!

Obviously all the woe is me is not the reason for this post... the reason behind this post is to highlight one of my listings... it can't help to get a little bit more advertising can it?! The listing in particular is that of my Collector Edition Barbie as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady.

I was always a Sindy girl rather than a Barbie girl... but I was given this doll when I finished working for Mattel in 1997! Doing the sums that it is just under 15 years ago, yet it seems much longer. I started there as a temp two days after I dropped out of uni. At the end of the first day they sacked the other - permanent - office junior because I'd done more work in one day than she did in a whole week!

Anyway... if you like Barbie... collect rare dolls... or just fancy helping us out, why not pop over to ebay and have a sneaky bid... I started her at much less than other similar collector dolls, so you might just grab yourself a bargain :)

  1. Oh my goodness at £15?! If I wasn't in the same spot as you I'd be paying more for it... cos I do have a thing for dolls. I use to collect Pullip dolls and have a fair few sitting in our living room... but some day I may have to say goodbye to a few *sniff*

  2. It's been quite difficult deciding what to get rid of... and most of it seems to be mine :(

  3. That is because Daddy doesn't have anything of value :-(

  4. I completely empathise. We have had to do the same recently and I gave up my collector's Breakfast at Tiffany's Barbie. The one in the pink dress. The one I based my wedding theme around... sad.

On a brighter note, I have less clutter?

Anyway, we must meet soon, sorry we didn't cross paths at Cybermummy.
