The Product: Olay Total Effects Wake Up Wonder
What They Say: Total Effects Wake Up Wonder is a lightweight anti-ageing moisturiser providing 7 anti-ageing effects in 1 product to wake up tired looking skin. This is thanks to its new lightweight anti-ageing formula with mint extract. The result? Visibly younger looking, awake and fresh feeling skin.
What I Say: I've never really been one for skincare regimes... I'm a soap and water girl, with perhaps a bit of moisturiser and a streak of eyeliner if I've remembered/got the time. A good day for me is one where I actually pay attention to what I'm seeing in the mirror in the morning instead of ending up at work and realising I've forgotten to pluck that stray nasal hair that is becoming rather obvious and annoyingly tickly.
My skin is also incredibly sensitive. If a cream is too thick my face thinks it's suffocating and beads up with sweat immediately, and then breaks out in spots overnight. Not really the desired outcome of a skincare product. Because of this I have over the years bought numerous different products only for them to be left gathering dust in the bathroom window after just one application... and then return to the trusty, fail-safe soap and water regime.
Having the twins has definitely taken its toll on my skin and I'm constantly aware that I look like death warmed up most days. And now being in my mid-thirties it is probably about time, if a little late, for me to start fighting the inevitable signs of ageing. That's why I jumped at the chance to review Olay's new Total Effects Wake Up Wonder... that, and the fact that it has mint extract in it. I've got a thing for mint!
So, what do I think? Well it is quite an effort to remember to use it every morning, but I have so far so I'm sure it's just a matter of time before it becomes a habit. It is definitely more a liquid than a cream with a lovely fresh smell, and is non-greasy and lightweight as promised. It sinks into the skin beautifully and I have not had any adverse reactions, which a certainly a bonus in my books! I would say that my face has felt a bit firmer this week, and (no word of a lie!) twice I have been told at work that I've been looking radiant! As for the line minimisation... I guess it's a bit early to tell yet. The instruction to dispense a hazelnut sized amount also prompted a very long debate with Keith as to whether the hazelnut should be shelled or not... and what if you've only ever had your hazelnuts chopped and covered in chocolate in a bar of Fruit & Nut? Hmmmm...
The Verdict: 5/5 Anything that doesn't cause my skin to break out gets top marks from me!
